So you want to start a free WordPress blog uh? That’s a smart idea. Keep on reading and find out how you can get your blog started in 5 minutes or less, for free.
But first, let me address a question that puts a lot of people off from starting a free blog.
Should You Start a Free Blog or Self Host Your Blog?
There are those who say you should start with a self-hosted blog (i.e. paying for hosting). This side of the crowd will usually list a lot of compelling reasons as to why this is the best way.
On the other hand, you have those who recommend the free way.
The truth is that there is no right or wrong approach here.
In fact, if you’re just getting started blogging I would actually recommend that you consider the free option if you’re a beginner.
Since this article is about how to start a free WordPress blog, I’ve no doubt that this was your intention anyway. I just wanted to mention the two sides of the argument so that you don’t start to doubt your approach if you come across those later on.
Here’s How You Start a Free WordPress Blog
As you can see in the video, signing up for a free blog is straightforward and easy.
I also recommend not getting hung up on domain names to start with, unless you really want one.
Don’t get me wrong, the ideal scenario is to have your own branded domain name and your own self-hosted blog. But if you’re a beginner, then there’s time for all that.
It’s far more important that you get started and that you make mistakes early on with the minimum of cost. I made a few mistakes during my first 6 months of blogging and while I don’t expect those to be the last, I nonetheless think it’s best to fail early and fail fast.
Additionally, when you start a free WordPress blog you get experience, which is priceless.
If you get it wrong, you simply start again.
If on the other hand, you get it right, then you can scale what you’ve started. At that point, you can use my blogging blueprint to expand your blog into the next phase.
But for now, blog free and blog fast.
And above all, enjoy the process.
